Sweet Home Senior Center
The Sweet Home Senior Center is operated by Senior Citizens of Sweet Home, Inc., a private non-profit corporation created in 1971. It is one of three privately operated senior centers in the state. The Senior Center was formed as a social gathering place for seniors. One can become a member at any age, but only members over 55 may vote.
Our mission is:
- To provide an organization in which the senior citizens of Sweet Home may engage in any lawful activity, none of which is for profit.
- To promote group activities dealing with recreation, housing, transportation, and other matters concerning the total needs of the senior age group and community betterment.
- To provide for educational, social and cultural needs and to promote friendliness.
- To determine the needs of older persons to co-ordinate and mobilize public and private resources at all levels, and to develop and maintain programs to alleviate such needs.
Our services include shuttle transportation, Dial-A-Bus service, Meals-On-Wheels, a kitchen and dining facility, senior health services and a variety of social activities, arts and crafts and sight-seeing trips.
